~Just imagine sitting outside on a warm summers evening for a three day duration, relaxing with your friends and family, enjoying the best in local live music and finishing it all off with several nice beers.

This is more than just a dream, it will be a reality. From Thursday 18th July - Saturday 20th July The Beer and Cider Festival is once again returning to The New Continental on South Meadow Lane, Preston.

As you can expect  they’ll be a wealth of alcohol to enjoy at your leisure but with reference  to the entertainment it all kicks off on the Thursday evening :-

On the 18th July 7.30pm comes ‘Open Mic vs. Classic Album Night’. It’s an opportunity to experience two of the established pub’s most popular theme nights. You can appreciate the live set or  enjoy an audio played vinyl through the reliable PA system. In addition The Floyd Band will be playing some classic acoustic versions of some Pink Floyd numbers.

Here is a brief run through of what you can expect on the Friday 19th July :-

  • 6pm :- The Onions :- guitar driven covers from the sixties to the noughties
  • 7pm :- Deepshade :-grungy alternative rock that combines elements of Nirvana and Queens of the Stone Age.
  • 8pm :- Moon and the Beams :- psychedelic indie folk rock, lifting sounds from The Doors - Jefferson Airplane.
  • 9pm :- Blue Juice :- funk, soul and acid jazz taken from the last four decades of music.

On Saturday 20th July there’s music ranging from rock to ambience and hip hop to jazz.

In particular look out for Three Day Weekend who are playing a set at 6pm. They’ve recently been championed by BBC Radio 6 presenter Steve Lamacq. The fab four are made up of Tom, Rhys, Liam and Will and have already generated a strong fan base due to their excellent performance style. The band are channelling their indie rock sound by  performing all over the UK and you can judge for your selves when they make their entrance on the continental stage on Saturday 20th July 2019. They are quite simply the ‘ones to watch’.

It’s nearly time for the annual  CONTINENTAL BEER & CIDER FESTIVAL And as ever that means another brilliant LIVE MUSIC line-up with something for everyone in the  outdoor Music Marquee.

So come along, make new friends or reacquaint yourself with old ones and enjoy this fantastic weekend coming soon to Preston:-
